  • Oh, inside our building is fairly steady. Temprature is set to 23°. I purchased a little digital thermometer that I have at my desk. It was only 21° on the thing first thing this morning before the building filled. But, it’s back to 22.9° right now.

Would love to know WTF building and facilities actually DO.

This will boil down to money. It is loads less work for them to arrange proper repairs and improvements to building facilities, as that really reduces the number of maintenance requests they get. So, they would want to make sure everything is repaired and serviced etc. But the building owners put limitations on that - can only spend $x on improvements and $y on temperature control etc. Then, they stand between the tenants/employees and the owners to shield the latter group from complaints.

  • That’s a good point. They didn’t word it like that.

We are writing to you today about an upcoming change to your Prime Video experience. Starting July 2, Prime Video movies and TV shows will include limited advertisements.

    But also:

We will also offer a new ad free option for an additional A$2.99 per month* that you can sign up for here.

I think I still would have cancelled had they said ‘we are increasing the price by $3, but you can stay at the current price and get ads’. But I believe that’s how Netflix would have worded it.

  • Just cancelled my prime membership. In truth, I haven’t been buying enough from Amazon to justify it, but it isn’t something I think about all that often.

Then they emailed me last week saying “hey, we’ll be introducing ads to Prime on July 1st”

Yeah, nah. I can’t justify that. What surprised me though is that it was moderately easy to cancel. I thought cancelling was needlessly complicated and they just got in trouble about that.

  • You can’t get your whole shop at Aldi. It’s great for what it’s great at, though. Aldi’s home brand is a class above the home brands of Colesworth, but tends to be priced at the same price or even cheaper. I usually get eggs, cheese, yoghurt, brekky cereals, biscuits, snacks and some veges there. Yes - basic ‘white’ staples.

I would likely get more frozen goods at Aldi, but when I do the grocery shop Aldi is the first stop. I don’t want to be roaming around for another hour or two with a trolley full of melting food.

  • I’ve read that people did this for centuries: went to bed early, woke up for a few hours around midnight and then had a second sleep to the morning.

I don’t know whether that’s really true, but it certainly matches my personal experience. If I go to sleep early and I’m not completely exhausted, I’ll wake up around 11 and be awake for the next 2-3 hours. I am usually up past midnight so this doesn’t often come up.
