3·3 days agoThere is still an active debate about whether Bridgy Fed should be opt-in or opt-out. As far as I can tell, however, they are working on implementing instance-level opt-in, meaning Gargon would have the ability to automatically enable bridging for mastodon.social users.
Flashes is based on ATProto, but the Bluesky team has nothing to do with this. The headline is misleading.

This is all I know. For updates, I would look to mommunism.bsky.social, who is their biggest advocate on Bluesky.
In all likelihood, Red Note will be banned banned, probably before the Red Note devs add a built-in translate function.

The most exciting part about this is that no one can say “there’s only one Bluesky instance” anymore.
They shouldn’t have before, because there’s no such thing as a Bluesky instance.
That’s not what happened. There were some Palestinian accounts that behaved in a spammy way, that were marked as spam and suspended. It only became known later that they belonged to real Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. Any Mastodon admin would have made exactly the same mistakes.
I’m not going to speak to the morality of enforcing strict guidelines in this situation because I can’t come up with a definitive answer.
I just want to point out that there are Palestinians from the Gaza Strip on Bluesky, and they do talk about the genocide.

2·6 days agoBecause Bridgy is opt-in, and I can’t interact with Mastodon users on Bluesky unless they opt-in to Bridgy.

What happens to my account if my PixelFed instance shuts down abruptly? Do I have to DM all my followers to follow my new account? Or is this already a solved problem with ActivityPub?
