Turns out I just had to add something to the start of my username, and had nothing to do with security protocols.

Protip: make sure to delete the “si=[gibberish]” part of shared YouTube links, it’s a tracking ID (Share ID) to track the performance of said share link.

All that seems to do is force the game into windowed mode and cause heavy artifacting (using gamescope -f doesn’t show the game at all, but it still seems to be running in the background).
