I am learning an instrument as an adult and my instructor commented “You’re so good at recognizing patterns.” That comment hit way harder than it had any right to.

My grandma is hard of hearing so she prefers written correspondence. I like using my fountain pen to write postcards because there’s something about the tactile feedback of a fountain pen. Like typing on a nice keyboard. Also I can change the color of the inks to match the season, stamps, and whatever.
Also she’s from the Bay Area, every house starts at a million. So just owning a home in the area she lived and worked in would make her a millionaire by default. It’s such a bad metric.
This is pretty much the best security one can expect for a bike. If you need better or to lock up your bike overnight, check if your town has bike lockers.
I wish I voted in Michigan so I could get that sweet werewolf sticker. I think I need to learn to draw.
Facts and I love their dedication. On year I had ordered some books online and the seller did not do a good job packing them. The box broke open and all of the books fell out so I was left with disappointment and an empty box. Now the postal service could have just given up and said it’s up to the seller to make it right. But a day or 2 later I got a box from USPS and it was most of the books! They had found the invoice in the wreckage and since it had the contents and my address, they gathered up all of the books they could find, properly packed them in a box, and sent them off to me. I was so impressed with the care they put into their jobs, postal workers are the best.
OMG!!! I get to recommend Delicious in Dungeon!!! The show is a bit of a slow burn, but the early episodes set up the incredible world building and the basic plot points. Then as it starts churning it gets crazy. The story is strong enough on it’s own, but it’s animated by Studio Trigger so the anime is pure perfection.
Huh, that explains the 4B movement in S. Korea.
Yuru Camp! Just cute girls cooking and camping.
I guess T. Kingfisher’s Saint of Steel series. It may not hit the “fucking brutal” mark but it does cover a lot of dark themes like loss very well for a fantasy, also not afraid to get racy. I enjoy T. Kingfisher as an author so I highly recommend.
I’m terribly sorry for your loss of mental health. Getting the vile shit of the internet directed art you as an adult is awful, can’t imagine how tough it is for a 16y/o.
Thanks for the new podcast recommendation.
Ok just being on the west coast doesn’t narrow this topic down at all.
Are you looking for prepared tea, loose leaf, or bubble tea? Depending on which city you are close to there are tons of great local options.
For loose leaf tea in bulk, I usually go to an Asian grocery store. They tend to have pretty affordable loose leaf options that a tasty.
When looking for something specific, I try and find a local tea shop to browse the loose leaf variety.
If you’re in a pinch and need some bagged tea, most grocery stores carry Celestial Seasonings. Their herbal teas rock, my favorite is the peppermint!
I am disappointed in Oregon. I have voted by mail in Colorado and California (not at the same time lol), and both states mailed the I Voted stickers with the ballot.
Have you considered checking out your local Community College?
Orchestra is back!!! The Fall season starts today and I am so excited to start playing again.
I am not sure what to call the genera but there is something so very consuming and soothing about Papers Please. It’s hard to describe how that game pokes just the right parts of my brain meat but it does. A major part of the game is learning patterns and picking out the pieces that are out of place and my goodness does my brain get a kick out of finding typos, inconsistent city locations, and mis-matching information between documents. I need to process an avalanche of information quickly but it doesn’t feel overwhelming, instead it is oddly soothing. The game is also short enough that I can binge and get to the end without ruining my life unlike something more open ended like Oxygen not Included.
For me it’s that I have to think less about my choices. I don’t have a ton of time anymore so if I pick a book I am not vibing with I can just return it and pick another in a matter of seconds. It’s led me to taking chances on books I normally wouldn’t read.
I love my local library because they’re keeping me sane on my work commute! I looove audiobooks and it’s so nice to be able to try so many and not have to worry about if I will like them because it’s all free!!!
Nope, just finished some scales and arpeggios and was moving on to some warm up pieces.
