Ditto on not engaging with Marvel stuff in a while. I know a decent amount, largely from games and shows, but I’m mostly a DC bitch. Though there’s a few series I’m fond of, e.g. Moon Knight & X-Men, so it’s cool to see MK and Magik in game. Can’t say I’ve tried Jeff the Shark, he’s an annoying little fucker to play against though.
Ooh, I didn’t realize there were ini tweaks out there already. I’ll have to go try and check them out. I’ve got a 4060 laptop which is theoretically not too bad, but still struggles to run anything new.
Yeah, that is true. Still, primates at least had a pretty good base from which to work towards evolving to use tools - hands, relatively high intelligence, and decent lifespans. I don’t even know how you’d go about giving a dolphin or ravens grippers. Octopi and rats have a decent base to work with in terms of grabbing things, but they would need to evolve to extend their lifetimes several times over before they could reasonably maintain a civilization.
Tbh as someone else said, it’s most likely some other primate species would take over in the meantime since they’re much closer.
I’m wary about the monetization so far. That’s my biggest concern. That and the performance issues. Otherwise, it seems pretty decent, though. Good cast of characters, too.
Also, why is Moon Knight an exclusively ranged character? Whyyyy? That’s like if you put Batman in a game and made an entire kit for him based on the grapple gun and batarangs.
Had some ‘moderate socialist’ sort on BlueSky link me this article a while back. I was not impressed.
The gist of this article, as I understand it, is that people should stop waiting for parties to start catering to them politically and instead start getting personally involved in their political parties. Which is a load of horseshit. There are an abundance of meaningful forms of political action, and even ignoring the fact that joining the Democratic Party has not yet proven to be one of them, there are always going to be a large amount of people who are unable to or simply do not want to waste years of their lives reforming the Democratic Party from within, and for those people, voting will simply be comparing the negatives and positives of groups that they are not involved with.
In a way it’s a similar kind of idealism to the Twitter leftists who believe all leftists should have read entire libraries of communist literature. The primary difference is that, while unrealistic, it would be an unequivocally good thing for more people to read more communist literature. “Everybody should simply join the Democratic Party” is not only an unrealistic mission statement, but an ideologically flaccid one.
Idk, that shit was annoying as fuck, imo. Democrats decided they’d finally stop “taking the high road” and what they decided to do instead was the equivalent of trying to convince everyone the kid you don’t like has cooties.
… Which is still better than constantly accusing Republicans of being closeted queers / fat / autistic / mentally ill / DEI hires / etc, I guess.
The alt right presence on BlueSky is incredibly small. The issue is that millions of neoliberals signed up. And more specifically, the issue that has resulted in more people registering here is that Jesse Singal joined and BlueSky moderation has been banning trans and leftist accounts to defend his honor.
Dolphins do sex for pleasure and find “toys” to masturbate with
I, uh. Think there’s a word for what they do to their “toys”, and it isn’t masturbation.
To be fair, I feel like ravens would probably need a lot less wood than humans do, so branches & young trees would likely suffice.
True, no opposable thumbs, though. Perhaps they could develop some kind of written language, but I don’t think it’d be nearly as easy as it is for us and I doubt they’d be able to do much with complex tools.
I use that site for my screengrabs! Fun PC tip: you can shift + right click to bypass the image protection and save / copy images as usual.
Chromatic aberration! When I played R&C: Rift Apart on PS5 I was taking screenshots and genuinely thought there was some kind of foveated rendering in play because of how blurry the corners of the screen looks. Turns out it was just chromatic aberration, my behated.
Hate film grain too because I have visual snow and I don’t need to stack more of that shit in my games.
Thanks for the link! Sadly, it doesn’t look like that’s an option for me. :/
The Flow mask is definitely a bit pricey, but I could probably put away some money for it or something similar. It also addresses one of the issues I have with other elastomeric masks which is that I struggle to do anything in public that I fear might draw attention to me due to heavy (psychological) masking, and a lot of the others look very attention grabbing.
I despise TAA. I remember back when I played on PS4, I could immediately spot a UE4 game because they almost always had awful TAA ghosting.
It’s real sad to me how all the other intelligent lifeforms on this planet are biologically limited in one way or another. Rats? Live a few years. Octopi? Live a few years. Dolphins? The fuck they gonna do with those flippers? Ravens? Ditto, but wings. They can’t even masturbate. Humans hit the evolutionary jackpot.
One of the last things I saw before leaving Twitter again (I rejoined for a bit back in October because I was angry about electoral politics) was abled leftists scolding disabled leftists who criticized leftist orgs for not taking COVID seriously. How many horrors do we have to see from this goddamn virus before people start taking it seriously?
Between all the recent news about COVID and H5N1 I’m finally going to invest in a bunch of N95s, I think. I tried to avoid non-reusable masks for a while because I’m on disability and every expense has to be justified, but…
That and DX12 in general, in my experience. Almost every game where I’ve had the option to use DX11 instead of DX12, the difference has been night and day. Helldivers 2 especially had an absurd improvement for me.
Yeah, I’m getting real fucking tired of struggling to get 60fps in new games even with DLSS cranked to max. They don’t even look much better. There’s plenty of older games that look better and run better that you don’t need to subject yourself to DLSS ghosting and frame gen latency to play. I’ve been telling my main co-op buddy that I might just stop playing new games (at least larger releases) because this shit is so frustrating.
I don’t think there’s much to be scared of. It’s not like it’s a magical day and night transition, so to speak, at least not for many people - and I think for those for whom it is it’s largely a psychosomatic thing. Which isn’t to downplay those effects - deciding to transition is a massive step forwards and has a revelatory effect on oneself, so it can feel like being an entirely new person, a fog lifting, etc. But for the most part, you just kind of keep on living, day by day, only every day your body is a bit more the way you want it to be.
If you’re worried about social repercussions, cis people are incredibly ignorant and the changes are slow enough that nobody will notice. Even breasts are surprisingly easy for them to ignore. And most effects of HRT are reversible if you stop (even your breasts will shrink, as they do for trans mascs on T).
This isn’t a very glamorous take, but that’s my perspective as someone who started self-medding over eight years ago now (jesus fucking christ). My transition has long since just become normal, day to day life to me. Though I think there’s a sort of mysticism to that, too. Not the glamor and excitement of being early in transition and expecting massive changes - though I did just earlier this year start experimenting again to successfully increase my breast size, so there’s always room to mix it up - but rather being able to look back and realize that this is your life now, and seeing how much you’ve changed from the person you once were. Every day you’re building new memories for yourself, and once you’ve bitten the bullet and taken the steps you need to take, each of those new memories is a small victory in and of itself.
