You could get yourself a RF analyzer or an old Hammy (Ham radio enthusiast would likely have something you could borrow)and find out what they are using then that would allow you to figure out your options such as removing the antenna, sim card, or the module in some manner. The problem with removing modules could be they are tied into the cars electronic controller which could cause issues with the car even working.

Then I attempted to throw HAOS various other versions of nix and that’s when I threw in the towel cause the bootloader seems to do a sig check on boot. If it’s not the Nvidia image it just hangs. Not an dm but why would they immediately kill the prisoners. If the cultists feel that the escapee is going to bring the law then why wouldn’t they flee with hostages in tow. This would slow them down giving the sorcerer a chance to catch up and free them. This could be drawn out long enough for them to succeed. This also would provide the others opportunities to free themselves.
