  • cliche but just go for it and practice until it feels natural to get the shape you want would be my advice. just focus on pulling stray hairs that aren’t in the thicker arch part of your brow and you will work towards a natural femme (or just a cleaner) shape. i don’t go for the super femme either just clean up the stray hairs. there is videos on how to use geometry and shit to do it the “right” way but i got good at it by vibes based practice and it takes a surprisingly short time to gain confidence. you just have to go for it, the worst case is you overpluck them a bit and they grow back very fast anyway

  • it’s an understandable worry, I don’t want to come across as prescriptive or presumptuous but if you’re out I would encourage you to use your chosen name and work on confidence in putting forward your actual identity in situations like that rather than leaning on your deadname, feeling like you have to say you’re trans upfront etc. I don’t know you and don’t want to make assumptions but I’ve seen people who do this stuff in early transition and it often seems to me like a way of undermining themselves. I think the best thing you can do is just roll with putting forward your true self and not make those kinds of concessions preemptively. sure it may lead to awkward situations down the line (believe me I’ve been there with employers) but I think it’s worth the boon in self confidence that comes with fully putting forward your true self and not undercutting.

sorry if it comes across prescriptive or if I made any undue assumptions about you. I just wanna see my trans comrades gaining confidence and to be brutally frank I guess I think putting your deadname and the fact you’re trans on a resume isn’t really a step in that direction.

  • i recommend giving it a go at least. honestly these days a lot less shit breaks on user friendly distros like Ubuntu than shit breaks on my windows 10 install which is a constant pain in the ass just to keep stable. when people complain about Linux being a pain I notice they’re often letting windows off easy in comparison because they’re so conditioned to using it. shit breaks on windows all the time people are just more accustomed to dealing with that. and I understand I’m doing the thing you complained about but if you don’t care about AAA there really has never been a better time to switch. with the proliferation of tools like proton a vast amount of games run on Linux out of the box even compared to 5 years ago.

I’m planning on installing Nobara Linux on my main machine when I finish the elden ring DLC and if I like it maybe I’ll try to do a write-up on how to get it setup and working nice, the basics of package management etc because this is something I really, really think is worthwhile but I know it’s hard without a Linux nerd looking over your shoulder to help and we do need more guides for total newbies.
