There is no requirement that you do. I’m completely unsure why people believe that you must allow shitty human beings in your life because they are family. Fuck that! Allow people in your life who make your life better. If that’s family, that’s great, if it’s not family that’s completely ok also.

I was a daily rider for many years. Then stopped for many years. Got divorced and remarried, and my now wife wanted to buy bikes (not bike but bikes). She’s passed me in ability many years ago.

Fast forward about 45 years. Last weekend I was at Lynn Family Stadium with my wife, watching LouCity play. Just past the second half restart, I’m standing up from letting some people go down our row to their seats. I decide to put my drink can in the cup holder before sitting down all the way. I bend over and over balance. Go falling down over the row in front of us and the aisle beside us.

You can pick which is more embarrassing.

I don’t think so. My father was in the RAF during the war. Bombed by the Germans and shot at by the Japanese. He is also the reason I’m a pacifist.

His brother-in-law was part of the BEF, that was rescued at Dunkirk.

Neither of them were particularly chatty about the war.

I think that for those that faced the horror of the war, almost all of them would have preferred not to have to endure that brutality. If an earlier intervention with Hitler could have prevented D-Day, I think most veterans of that conflict would be all for it.
