Thanks! I corrected it.

In case anyone was wondering the same: The zinc spark is the release of zinc by the egg upon fertilization. It is called spark because the researchers used a fluorescent probe for detection. There is no light emitted upon conception if the probe is not present. The exact reason for the release of zinc is still unknown.
The checkmark marks posts as read. If you want to view posts marked as read you have to enable this in the settings.
Settings > Account preferences > View read posts
There is no shortcut at the top right to quickly toggle or like there is for hidden posts. Not sure why. There is also a button that quickly clears the next 25 read posts. The + at the bottom right also has that button.
The authors show that stabilizing the microtubules network with epothilone B delays the onset of unconsciousness in rats under isoflurane anesthesia by one minute.
This suggests that a normal microtubules network is required for normal neuronal function. This is expected, considering the microtubules network is essential for cell shape and intercellular transport, among other things.
Taking this as evidence or even concluding that quantum microtubules vibrations are responsible for consciousness is a very big stretch.
I’m also unclear why this would be specific to neurons or higher animals for that matter. Virtually every eukaryotic cells has microtubules.
tl;dr: me no likey.
Today I learned that MALDI-proteomics is used for identification of bacteria. I expected sequencing to be the gold standard.
Is it a highly targeted approach where you can guarantee coverage of proteins of interest? On average, how many proteins contribute to the fingerprint of a bacterium?
Answers made in lemmy don’t seem to make it back to mastodon however. I assumed the whole conversation gets mirrored. Just something to be aware of I guess.
Think it’s double spoiler
Somebody watched the whole video ^^
I wasn’t aware that gas is so much worse. Thanks, I learned something :). Regarding induction, I suppose it only makes sense when you have a high-powered three-phase one.
If you have a gas or induction stove you could consider buying a regular kettle. Without electric components they can easily outlast you.
told ._.
Edit: thanks for letting me know! I fixed the typo.
In the middle of this post is an example with the link to the actual postmade from Mastodon.

I totally agree.
Interesting that that’s your takeaway. It’s definitely one of the overarching themes in my poetry right now.
It’s beautiful. :)
I love how you describe action in order for the reader to infer the emotion themselves. I know that’s not revolutionary, but I never recognized it this clearly. I will definitely experiment with that.
Thank you for that insight.
