I tried playing BG games back in the day. I think Neverwinter Nights circa 2008(?) was a BG universe game?
Correct, the NWN games were also set in the forgotten realms, as were the old Icewind Dale games, but none of the stories were related, and all of those entries really show their age.

They definitely do show their age, but BG2 and NWN2 both still absolutely slap.
