If you’re planning on buying Sea of Thieves for PlayStation 5 in April you’ll need to make sure you’ve got a Microsoft account.

The PS Store page for the games states “Microsoft account registration, acceptance of Microsoft Services Agreement and Privacy Statement required to play”

This all makes perfect sense as it will allow cross-platform invites, chat, proximity chat and cross-platform progression.

If you’ve ever played Minecraft chances are you already have a Microsoft account as that requires one from cross-play too.

Don’t forget you’ll also need PS Plus to play Sea of Thieves online.

I already have a Pirate Legend character on Xbox and I hope we get the option of creating a new character on the PlayStation version. I wouldn’t mind starting from scratch on a new system.

Unsurprising, considering how other cross platform games work. I’m excited!

I’m looking forward to getting the platinum as a fair few of the achievements are unobtainable since they discontinued the Arena.
