I got a notification on telegram from someone saying hey, I responded back and they said why haven’t talked for a while and that we know each other.

I asked him if he knew my real name and sure enough he knows my whole fucking real name.

He even has a picture, and I told him I’ve never seen him before.

Any ideas?

This is so weird

You just found out the whole reason why I do not like messenger apps, I can’t tell you how many times scammers on gab and Twitter try to get me on messenger apps for this very reason because they’re either trying to expose me or collect information on the

Yeah, this is largely why I exclusively use mobile web + vpn instead of apps for sites on my phone.

Browser, I set it up once and then allow exceptions on a case-by-case.

Apps always want access to shit like contacts and whatnot. I just can’t bring myself to trust them. I think the only site-specific one I have is newpipe and I got that on fdroid or izzysoft via fdroid (e.g. is open source)

You can find people by phone number on telegram. That is the most plausible scenario. Like my first boss out of college. I got a notification saying he joined telegram.

Turn off the contactlist auto add crap in settings, and check friend privacy, if you add someone as friend it will default to showing your phone number. Turn that off lol.

I think maybe it’s because I’ve been looking for jobs recently and some scammers might be taking my phone number off of my resume or something
