Toys for Bob have announced that it is winding down support for the multiplayer live service Crash Team Rumble just over 9 months after release.

The next update scheduled for March 4th will be the games final update. All players will receive a free 500 tier battle pass which will include 104 new items as well as every item available from seasons 1 - 3. The games premium currency is being turned off too so you will no longer be able to buy any with real money.

As for the servers they are staying online for the time being with no end date decided as of yet.

It’s likely the decision to end support was taken now that Toys for Bob have broken away from Activision/Xbox to become an independent studio again and no longer have the rights to work on a Crash game.

Are you sorry to see Crash Team Rumble enter the final stages of its life?

”Buy games that you can actually own and play beyond their profitability”.

This is the primary way I decide which games to buy. If it won’t work just as well 20 years from now as it does today they aren’t getting my money. I’ll buy used if I really want to play any game that requires an internet connection.

I’ve been playing Gran Turismo 3 for the last week or so and it’s just as functional now on my PS2 as it was the day it launched. The 7 year old GT Sport on the other hand is barely functional at all now the servers have gone away.
