Once people begin to think of themselves as a master race, or a chosen people, there really is no limit to the depths.

Anything between the river and the sea is yours, if you meet someone there, just kill them, it’s cool

        -God

Edit for the hater: I will establish your borders from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the desert to the Euphrates River. I will give into your hands the people who live in the land, and you will drive them out before you. Exodus 23:31

          Exodus 23:31

From a book that Jews, Muslims (and Chriatians) all consider “holy”.

When everyone in a conflict can consider themselves to have a god-given right to the same chunk of dirt, it can be a bit of a challenge to find a mutually acceptable solution.

Maybe too subtle, but the point of my comment was the asterisk at the end.

Whether it is a bad translation or not, it is what most people understand to be what the Bible teaches. Life is sacred and should not be taken. My asterisk was there to convey that everyone had their own terms and conditions they applied to it so it is an impotent commandment.

        • unless they did bad things
        • unless they are from another country
        • unless they believe in another religion
        • unless their skin is a different colour
        • unless they voted differently to me

Etc etc. If you change the meaning, you aren’t defying God so you can still proclaim yourself to be righteous.
