Last week Sony released the Stellar Blade demo without warning on the PS Store. However it was quickly removed some 25 minutes later as was accidentally released.

In the internet 25 seconds can be an eternity and within minutes people were streaming the demo on Twitch and YouTube.

The demo includes the first hour of the game and any progress will carry over to the full release in April.

If you were one of the lucky ones who managed to grab the demo before it was pulled you might want to disconnect your PS5 from the internet until you’re done playing it.

Sony has updated the demo’s license on the back end server to block it from being played. If your PS5 is offline you should be fine though.

This all seems unnecessarily petty as all the information about the demo and even its very existence is public now. Yet there hasn’t been an official acknowledgment that the demo even exists.

Sony just needed to accept mistakes were made and officially release the demo. But they’ve gone the other way and frankly it’s not a good look for them.

I don’t think Sony can unilaterally decide if a demo has to stay online or not.

Sony is the publisher, but the developer has a word, or doesn’t?
