Yeah the French totally left all on their own, and this love of the freedom fighters is comparable to American conservatives.

    Unironically what a lot of French people think from me arguing with them, “we just left and gave you independence” like imagine taking an L so hard you made yourself believe you actually gave away a valuable piece of land just because they were kind, in reality they fear another Algeria, people who were colonized for a 132 years but still haven’t given up their identity, people who lost 1.5 million people and haven’t given up their fight for freedom.

      A million or so pieds noirs remigrating in France really did a number to the french consciousness (which wasn’t in a great shape prior to the war)

      Shit, my grandfather on my mother’s side died in an ambush in Algeria, my grandfather on my father’s side was a truck driver and used to see soldier’s coffins when he was loading merchandise in Marseille

      Algerian independence was hard fought and hard won
