Ugh I feel like I heard somebody walking around on the deck at the front door. I’m not home alone, but the roommate is asleep. It’s probably just possums on the roof, but it definitely felt like somebody on the verandah. I know that it’s probably nothing and to put my mind at rest I should flick the light on and have a peek out the window, but I really don’t want to. The conundrums of being an independent mini human :/

Is it possible to get a stick on Ring camera? I seem to remember a rental friendly option but then again I think you have to pay a subscription

Edit: You can also maybe use an old phone as a security camera but you’d have to hide it and it’s not protected from weather. Game cameras don’t let you see out there live which is what you want

I’ve actually been considering a ring for a while. Unfortunately it would be a little bit difficult as we probably wouldn’t be allowed to hardwire it. Also since there’ll be a few other people living here soon, everybody would want access to it which has some security implications as well

There’s one I think that you didn’t have to hard wire. But yeah there really should be more renter friendly security cameras. There’s a need

I’m really skeptical of those because it seems like every week there’s a new story about ring or other internet cameras being hijacked
