A Louisiana House committee voted Thursday to repeal a law requiring employers to give child workers lunch breaks and to cut unemployment benefits — part of a push by Republicans
he filed the bill in part because children want to work without having to take lunch breaks.
I vaguely remember somebody telling me that Ronald Reagan claimed that black Americans did not want their concessions. The principle here is identical: claiming that the oppressed are consenting to their oppression. Asking for proof of consent strikes me as standard procedure, but apparently nobody expects anticommies to substantiate any of their extraordinary claims, so nobody ever asks.
I still remember visiting a casual dining restaurant in Texas decades ago and seeing a prepubescent child doing janitorial work. I’m guessing that it was only a part‐time job, but I was still disturbed seeing it. Maybe somebody can argue that kids taking part‐time jobs is okay if it’s only to afford luxuries (rather than something more serious like supporting a family), but an impatient desire for luxuries could easily reflect a need for coping mechanisms.
