Samurai Jack was a great show, there’s no question about that. But when I watched the first episode and he arrived in that cyberpunk city, I was really excited. A samurai from the past exploring a cyberpunk future? That sounds amazing.

Of course, as anyone who watched the show knows, he spent very little time in that city. Most episodes took place in the forest or around ancient ruins, and Jack being in “the future” was really just an excuse for him to fight robots so they could make the show as violent as possible and Jack would only get splashed with “oil”.

(See? There’s no blood! It’s safe for kids!)

Sure, there were some episodes that were more cyberpunk, like the rave episode:

And the episode with the robot who just wanted to find his lost dog (Lulu, sweet thing):

But those were exceptions.

Of course, I kept watching the show anyway, because it’s great. I was just hoping for more sci-fi/cyberpunk episodes. At least we finally got that last season, which finished the story after over a decade of waiting.

Anyway, here’s the intro. You can watch the entire series on Max or Adult Swim.

Samurai Jack is such a great cartoon. From the intro to the stories. it was all so well done.

The one with the robot, Tale of X-49, is one of my favorite episodes. “Lulu, take care of Lulu” (sweet thing) will forever be in my memories. It’s shows how much emotion a cartoon robot can give.

If anybody is interested, there is a fan-film of Tale of X-49 called: Sweet Thing - A Samurai Jack Story (Official Fan-Film) It’s worth a watch in my opinion.

X-49 was one of the most amazing concepts, since it did a good job of showing us a cybernoir story!

Never like the show. I’m not ever sure why, since that’s generally something that I would enjoy. I guess it has something to do with the art style, since the story was okay.

For me, the hard part is how many silly episodes there are. When I think about the series, I think about the amazing action sequences and villains. But when I actually look at a list of episodes, I just skip past a lot of them. The “Jack needs new shoes” episode, the “Jack loses his clothes” episode, the “Jack gets turned into a chicken” episode. There’s a lot of weird episodes in the series. When it’s good, the show is very good. But not every episode is good in my opinion.

This is interesting. I can’t relate to it at all. Those episodes are so much “samurai Jack” as any others, in my mind. The brevity and silliness set the temperature from which serious episodes took off from

        Hehe the chicken episode…

Or the one where Jack joins the Mafia. Jack learns to Jump Jack helps a dragons indigestion Jack meets a Scotsman. The Scotsman needs jack’s help The Scotsman helps jack’s memory

Oh and the miniseries of three episodes where Jack “loses”. The fairy spell, the twin dragons, and I think Aku makes space bacon too.

What about that time Jack got into a mech and fought another giant mech?

Or when he gave up a portal to the past?

Seriously I understand why you skipped some episodes, but I legitimately love them all and I don’t think anyone can point out one single episode I don’t like.

Every episode is good in my opinion. Except maybe the metal cannibal episode. That one scares me a bit.
