As a black LGBTQ+ person, the fact that I’ve seen white liberals, some of whom are LGBTQ+ themselves, use the “BIPOC tend to be more homo/transphobic, so that’s why it’s okay for me to be racist!” kind of thinking is very scary.

The scariest part? I know they’re lying about their motives from the get-go. I’m a black LGBTQ+ person who is obviously not homophobic or transphobic, but they still are racist to me despite this.

That mentality is evil. I one time fell for that trap, and it led to me having an insanely unhealthy amount of internalized racism as a result of it, and people wonder why I hate liberals so damn much.

Liberals are people who can make bigotry look more socially acceptable, and that scares the shit out of me because I constantly feel like I’m surrounded by all liberals and conservatives and zero leftists. I literally don’t feel safe, especially in fucking Florida.
