In the wake of growing concerns over child exploitation on the popular gaming chat platform Discord, CEO Jason Citron has voiced his alarm and commitment to tackling the issue. Discord has long been recognized as a troubling vector for groomers and sexual deviants to reach children and teens.
Much as I hate that this is the world we live in, it’s not really surprising when you stop and think about it.
If you raise chickens, you need to guard against foxes, wolves, and other carnivores. Considering that very few children these days don’t play video games and that discord (as much as I personally dislike the platform) is one of the biggest places for chatting about games on the web, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that it would be like a fucking candy store for pedos.
Glad to see them finally taking steps to against child predators, but I have to wonder if there’s anything they could have done differently that might have discouraged these kinds of
peoplesick pieces of shit from hanging out on the platform in the first place…
