Alternate video link to Invidious (YouTube without using YouTube directly): https://yt.artemislena.eu/watch?v=dH1ErhJa3Qo
Banjo Kazooie Gitlab (Source Code): gitlab.com/banjo.decomp/banjo-kazooie
Additionally a written article posted here at discussion:
Damn that timing! I just posted the same thing (article though). I’ll delete mine though.
Regarding the news though this is awesome!
Many of us would prefer the article to the video.
Fair enough! It’s back up :)
I agree, at least post it here!
Oh lol. What happened there? We posted at the same time?
Yeah we posted a similar story at basically the exact same time
I feel like you could repost it again. I don’t think its against the rules, as it is a different source and written article versus video report.
Can anyone explain how people do this?
It’s reverse engineering: https://www.retroreversing.com/N64Reversing
Thanks for that link!
It’s worth noting that the link he provided is a decent overview, but it’s also really outdated as far as the decompilation community goes. If you’re at all interested in getting involved, and not just mildly curious about the high level stuff, most people start with one of two discords. One for decomp.me and the is the N64 decompilation discord.
Thanks!
Now we can learn the secrets of Stop n Swop
Would successfully decompiling this game make the process any faster for the sequel, or is it just a manual labor thing?
