Merhaba!

I have been learning Turkish for a little while now, and I can’t find anyone to ask advice, or other learners for mutual encouragement. I used to visit the Turkish sub on reddit, but I don’t use reddit any more since recent events.

I really like how Turkish sounds, how it looks in writing/text, and it’s making me more curious about other parts of Turkish culture, history etc.

As I’m sure you all will know, it’s incredibly difficult to stay motivated while learning a language. Especially in isolation.

It would be great if there was even a language post in this community. Maybe there aren’t enough learners to do that, I don’t know. What do you think?

I’d suggest maybe trying to increase the scope of the searches for communities. Like searching for overall language and/or language learning communities. Or worse comes worst, maybe create a community yourself would be interesting too?

I searched for general language communities, and there was no Turkish. And starting my own… if there aren’t any learners, then it will be an empty community. Also, my Turkish is not good enough for that. I think to run a community like that, you need to be competent in English AND the target language.

Welp, I guess you could ask the mods to make a language tag. I don’t think people would mind you just asking questions anyways.

I think you can add tags to certain posts to categorize them. I see them in some of the communities I’ve subscribed to. They have a gray outline and are to the left of the post title. You can add tags when creating a thread from the tags menu and @kbinmeta has tags if you want to see an example.

Do you mean a pinned/stickied post? Whatever it is, I’d just like to see some Turkish learning stuff on Lemmy, and also to get advice from people who speak the language natively.
