I mean yeah I can leave whenever I want…I can “choose” my master so to speak, but unless I want to starve to death I’m forced to choose a master.
It’s literally just a nicer form of slavery. If you have a gun pointed to your head with the option “choose a master or I pull the trigger”, is that really a choice? I’d argue not.
Again, only a US-thing. Most of the world has some basic social net that covers you loosing your job. Or even quitting it (if there’s a reason other than “i don’t wanna work per se”. Here at least).
The US is one of the worst places to live unless you at least own double-digit millions. And even then you’re just a serious illness away from being broke again.
And then you’re not even allowed to kill yourself.
