It is absolutely in their best interest to bank roll a minimal competition to avoid interference. With AMD announcing they are backing off of the bleeding edge, they were absolutely firing a massive shot across the bow of Nvidia while polishing the guillotine blade. 80% market share and no competition is a death knell.
