crazy thing i just realized, maybe im looking too much into it…in memory maze there is a reference to the bridge of doom which is another song from a different album…kinda like how kglw will reference future songs or albums, although those songs/albums came out the same year it seems idk about the same time but yeah haha

also the plot thickens. Doom Gong - DG-2 live at the 4:00 mark https://youtu.be/R9Fi7H7nCoA?si=LssDZKZGpN8UI6a4&t=240 sounds so much like KGLW - The River https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUZn1I6llJs

wasn’t really sure at first, but i listened to ‘Still Hoverin’’ and i liked that imho it isn’t too similar to gizz, more like Acetone or something it’s still cool though, will be listening to them in more depth soon

yeah it seems like most of their music skews towards the softer sounds but the songs i linked feel like direct influences at least in certain parts, that and the album covers seem very inspired by kglw specifically which is interesting because ive never really been able to put a finger on how kglw sounds but i can always tell their distinctiveness. Still hoverin just sounds like general prog, I think doom gong sorta is giving off a vibe of the lofi girl but if it were that sorta psych/prog rock music…I think doom gong can push themselves a lot more into the exploratory direction like how kglw does, they seem pretty talented but don’t have the years of experience like kglw.
