It doesn’t matter their political system or economic alignment, authoritarians always look for unproven or racist ideas to divide others away from themselves. It doesn’t matter what race or for which political idea, racism is always bad and corrupts all ideas.

It’s easier than accepting that all people are capable of good and evil. It’s so easy to decide villains are born that way because then the targets are easy and you’re definitely a good person.

You’ve likely interacted with some of their terminally-online dungeon denizens before. They have authoritarian takes that would embarrass fascists, but they call everyone else Nazis. Truly a special and unique crowd over there.

Probably best to add it to your instance blocklist now and nip that shit in the bud before you do.

They actually have some reasonable people though so I don’t see a need to block the entire instance. (They know Linux, self hosting and privacy pretty well.)

I thought hexbear defederated from world

I know they defederated from SJW, oh man, it was hilarious. They were all hyping themselves up that they have an entire ocean to dunk with and then they lost their safespace and they quickly folded. It didn’t even last a day before they admitted defeat and ran back to their safespace.

I saw them in Philly a few years ago. At the end of the show they had their cam feed point to women to flash the camera. Whoever was directing the feed kept cutting back to one woman who was obviously not comfortable with it, definitely left a bad taste in my mouth

They’re being ironic and edgy. Probably.

The question is only whether you consider ironic racism (in this case mocking 19th and 20th century “race science” with reversals of focus) to be racism regardless.

I don’t think so, but there’s also always elements of Poe’s Law to consider. Not to mention that, for example, British and American racists literally said these things unironically about Germans, reaching fever pitches in WW1.

You should look at US WWII propaganda cartoons. It is very “interesting”

During that time the US rounded up all Asians and put them in internment camps for “there own safety.” Let’s just say they didn’t feel very safe living in a prison. I actually knew someone who grew up in one of the internment camps. She didn’t want to talk about the experience so I’m assuming it was unpleasant.

Long story short is that no country is free from the danger of race theory.

Japanese-Americans only. Chinese-Americans were actually highly praised by US propaganda of the time.

        Racism is arbitrary and insane.

That is one of the traditional meanings of blackface, yes.

It’s also clear that the intended meaning of the act is innately critical of that mentality.

If you disagree that it is acceptable that’s valid but ignoring that the act was at least an attempt at well intentioned criticism is just dishonest.

Though seriously, in Tropic Thunder, Kirk Lazarus is a satirical character whose method of acting goes to such lengths that it becomes offensive, hence why he’s in blackface.

Like it’s supposed to be offensive, that’s the entire point. It’s satirising the film industry’s portrayal of war and the actors in the industry. They even point this out in the film itself, lol, it’s a key part of it.

Using satire to back up your deflection unironically is certainly… something. Haven’t seen that before. But the original post has no satire, punchline, or even anything witty. It’s just plain racism.

So what’s the joke? Are they’re pretending to be racist without the topic (rammstein) ever mentioning race to begin with?

I don’t buy that. ‘Please excuse me. I’m just going to be sarcastically racist without anyone previously mentioning race!’ – It’s straight out of the alt-right playbook; when called out, claim it’s a sarcastic, ironic joke!

Right, but there’s enough social context going on to generally assume that stans for the philosophy of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engles probably don’t actually consider Germans a form of untermensch.
