I understand, but also, please don’t. As bad as it is right now, the world is still a better place with you in it. Call or text 988 if you’re feeling suicidal, there are people there ready to listen and help.

So quick thing. Our community has a rule of ‘No bigotry’. Honestly? I think that if you voted for Trump you basically violated that rule. So lemme be clear.

If you voted for Trump, voted for Third Party, or didn’t vote at all and you say as much on this community, I will permanently ban you. Yes, I am including Third Party in that. Jill Stein is an open asset of the Russians. More over, a Third Party candidate was never going to win. Your position of a protest vote did nothing other than fuck over everyone else in the country. You are just as bad as the people who did not vote and worse than the people who voted for Trump. At least they were honest about what they were doing. You deluded yourself into believing that a completely different election was happening and actively enabled fascism.

You do not get to call yourself a Star Trek fan when your actions have shown that you go against absolutely everything that it stands for and represents.

Look on the bright side: no Trumper would ever feel welcomed in this community regardless of your declaration - the whole entire community supports this level of thinking, and we are more than just Star Trek. We are STAR TREK!:-)

I hope you find a way to move forward friend.

There wasn’t really a Stamets on screen that was like the mood I’m currently in because no Stamets actually felt rage. It was always annoyance or frustration or being emotionally hurt. Even the Terran Stamets was more self-concerned and worried.

No, the only comparable Stamets that I could think of was one raised by Klingons and whose parents were killed by Romulans. The only reason I said that I’d ban people here is because that’s all I can do. If this was an in person community, I’d be kicking people in the throat until their trachea collapsed.

I’m a white CIS guy as well, and I’m worried to the point I can barely function this morning.

I work at a not for profit hospital that’s already on a shoestring budget. Any cuts to government healthcare coverage and my department may as well get slashed in half

Move to Alaska. We need more left-leaning people. We’re already starting to go purple and our population is so low that it probably won’t take much to get us to go solidly blue.

Plus, you won’t have to wait for a massive earthquake to separate you from the rest of the country. Canada will do that.

What do you actually believe is going to happen to you? Why didn’t it happen during his first presidency? Unless you were killed and are talking from beyond the grave? In which case I’m sorry you’re dead.

The last time was truly different. JEB was supposed to win the Republican nomination, leading to a dynasty clash-off between the Bushes and the Clintons… except it didn’t happen, when Trump called him a big meanie poopy-pants or whatever, and he cried, looked weak, and basically went limp (tbf, his father was very ill or sth).

So then it was a toss-up between Ted Cruz and Trump, or as the Republican leaders at the time said, a choice between being poisoned vs. shot in the head. They chose the poison.

After that it came down to Hillary vs. Trump in the general election, and due to some helpful little Russian interference, people voted against her. Not for him, mind you, but against her. It was a one-time thing that would never, Ever, EVER happen aga-…

        Well shit.

Edit: Tbf, after he won even Trump didn’t know what Trump was doing the whole time, besides wandering around eating McDonald’s hamburgers. Though now people are READY to make use of him - they know how, and what they want done. THIS IS VERY DIFFERENT.

Don’t look up the statistics for LGBTQ hate crimes under the Trump presidency then.

The ones who survived last time are not fancying their chances, especially when their friend’s corpses are staring back at them.

They came in as bumbling idiots and still managed to wreck a few things, thankfully we still had some institutions left to push back on him the first time.

They have a detailed takeover plan and a sympathetic supreme court now. Things are a little bit different.

Some of it did happen, including a million unnecessary COVID deaths. The rest didn’t because Republicans didn’t control all three branches of government. They will in January.

People are really showing America’s ignorance on basic civics. It’s so depressing.

I have been working since 2 am on the plan we have to get our family to the UK. I have already contacted relatives and organizations that help queer kids.

So basically I will be moving before the end of January. Enjoy your Bell Riots.

There will be an impact but its not going to be the massive thing. People will move on eventually. The good news for many here is that this is likely the last term for Trump. If the Republicans screw up enough they will lose power. We are ruled by democracy and enough people supported Trump to get him elected. That same power can ruin him in a heart beat.

        Don’t confuse optimism for desperation:-)

But Star Trek is a great example of what can come after e.g. Bell Riots.

We learn and grow through pain.

You seem to have missed the global nuclear war that happened between the bell riots and shiny space communism.

Wouldn’t mind avoiding that, though it seems like thats getting more and more probable.

Things might get better, after everyone dies for stupid bullshit, but that’s hardly a comfort.
