Good morning fellow sobernauts, IWNDWYT 😁!

We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we’re here together!

Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! I’m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.

Maybe you’re new to c/stop drinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you’re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you’ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.

It doesn’t matter if you’re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, let’s not drink alcohol!

From Belle Robertson, “Tired of Thinking about Drinking”: “the only voice you need to amplify is the one that believes in you. when fear (or doubt) turns up the volume, it’s your job to dial it back and listen to the quiet voice that says ‘you’re doing this. keep going. not today.’ that’s the voice that can lead you out of the noise. and into clarity.”

i’m not someone who drinks on the regular; I usually go weeks or months without imbibing alcohol. But as you might guess … there have been reasons, lately, that i hit the bottle harder than ever this week in particular. certain events had me craving the detached, numb sensation of ‘not dealing with this shit right now’. Especially when the shit in question is something I have no power to ‘deal with’. but seeing this post right now, i believe i shall perhaps abstain today…
