EU anti-fraud investigators probing the company of Viktor Orbán’s son-in-law were surveilled by Hungary’s foreign intelligence agency, which even created an entire department to spy on EU institutions. However, sensitive political information gathered by Hungarian intelligence sparked political and intelligence infighting.

If it were that simple then I’d be right there with you calling for exact same thing.

But think about it for a minute. We already know Orban’s tongue is firmly embedded in Putin’s arse. Where exactly do you think he’ll go? I doubt it would be good for the EU to have a Russian forward base that far west.

Anyway the people voted Orban in, and they can vote him out too. What they didn’t vote for was an exit from the EU, they’re not that dumb.

Once the media and press of a country are under control of a despot voting him out is not as easily done as voting him in.

Orban goes where the money is, because Hungary is way to poor to do otherwise. He needs access to the European single market, which is something even Daddy Putin couldn’t replace before he chose to destroy Russia in attacking Ukraine.
