Because that would be sanders actually accomplishing something rather than just talking a big game while not getting in the way.
That has been his entire career. He talks shit but doesn’t accomplish much. And the few times he DOES actually act he mostly just shoots himself in the foot and pisses away any influence he has left.
Also: The world is catching on fire at an alarming rate and china is trying to intimidate Taiwan again. The last thing sanders wants is to be the guy stopping a military/intel funding bill when that war goes hot.
