Hey Folks

Just a quick note to let you all know about some changes in the lemm.ee admin team. After discussing things with the other admins, we’ve decided to shuffle around our roles a bit.

Up until now, I’ve been the head admin at lemm.ee - handling infrastructure, maintaining rules and policies, and acting as the main contact person for the admin team.

However, I’ve come to realize that this role has taken a toll on me. While I still love the idea of Lemmy and everything it stands for, being an admin has slowly drained the joy I once had for the platform. The occasional negative experiences have been increasingly difficult for me to shake off. For the past several months, I’ve found myself hesitating to check my DMs or the moderation queue, simply because I’m bracing for some new drama that I no longer have the energy to manage.

After some conversations with the team, we’ve agreed on a plan to ensure my burnout doesn’t negatively impact the instance:
  1. I am stepping down as head admin of lemm.ee.
  2. The new main contact person for the admin team will be @EllaSpiggins@lemm.ee.
  3. I’ll continue to maintain and update the infrastructure behind the scenes.
  4. The rest of the admin team will now handle all moderation issues, managing our policies, and any general admin communications.

It’s been an honor to serve as your head admin, and I’m incredibly grateful for the amazing people I’ve met here. I’m excited to stay involved in a capacity that works better for me and allows me to enjoy this community once again.

See you around!

Love you, Sunaurus! (altho that’s kind of an American expression which perhaps… doesn’t mix culture-wise very well in terms of where you’re from, haha *sweating*)

It’s been an honor to serve…

Myself, It’s been a *total* honor to be part of your excellent (incredibly carefully-run) instance. For my part, I’ve tried to bring positive light to lemm.ee specifically, and Lemmy as a whole, across the last 15+mos. So thank you *SINCERELY* for giving me that chance, plus for expediently handling a couple of distressing issues that I barked about, here and there!

In terms of financial gratitude, it seemed like last time I tried, I wasn’t able to get my PayPal to get y’all a donation (in retrospect I think I should have tried via GitHub?), but let me know if there’s anything else (that or otherwise) I can do for you, please.

Also, via my occasional interactions with the new lead, I’ve had a quite satisfactory time interacting with @EllaSpiggins@lemm.ee, and I want to greatly thank Ella for that, too. ^^

    Just… here it is:
thank you SO MUCH, you wonderful folks, you. ❤️

Thank you for all you’ve done! You should be proud of your work.

I had to step down as mod of the mapporncirclejerk subreddit for health reasons too. When I eventually moved over here, I decided to start up !cartographyanarchy@lemm.ee and now I feel better about moderating having had time to recoup.

If you are like me, remembering to rest can be a difficult thing to do. Just know that taking time off is so important to becoming your best you. ❤️

Delegation is important, and I respect how much work being both head admin and head tech would be. Good on you for prioritizing your health! And welcome to the role, EllaSpiggins.

It’s my unbiased opinion that .ee is the best place in the fediverse, and this is largely your doing. Keeping a level head, and applying consistent management is no small task.

So for what it’s worth, thank you.

And shout out to all the other moderators that do what they do, and to those who are stepping up to keep this place what it is.

Thank you for all the support you’ve given to lemmy, and I’m especially grateful for the support you gave me when lemmy.zip had a wobble a while back. You’re a top guy and you deserve happiness 😊

    See you around lemmy!

Yeah, this role requires a ridiculously thick skin unfortunately. So much drama flows up.

I hope you plan to still be around to “dogfood” the experience as that’s quite important as well.

Sucks to hear that, but completely understandable. Thanks a bunch for making this one of the better (if not the best) instances. Hopefully not too much changes on the moderation/federation policy :)
