84 year old congresswoman Nancy Pelosi is using a walker on the House floor today during the congressional certification of the election.
I find the Pelosi fixation odd. She makes money in the market from congressional insider knowledge but less than some Republicans. She’s too old for office, yet younger than some Republicans.
Yet it’s always Pelosi, Pelosi, Pelosi.
Isn’t is just from having been Speaker? Even though she no longer is, that gives her a distinction from the hundreds of other people in Congress.
Dennis Hastert was the longest running Speaker of the House in history and never got so much attention.
But then he didn’t make millions on inside information like Pelosi. He only molested children.
Checks out that the molester was a Republican
Well, yeah, because Republicans are above repute. They could never criticize a member of the party!
For fucks sake.
84 year old congresswoman Nancy Pelosi is using a walker on the House floor today during the certification of the election. The image of Pelosi shuffling by, screenshotted above, is a stark depiction of the decrepitude of our elected officials.
Though Pelosi’s office has not issued statement on the walker, it is likely due to a hip replacement surgery she underwent last month after suffering a fall while on official travel in Europe. In a scene too over-the-top for even Hollywood, while recovering from her fall, Pelosi whipped votes for the 74 year old congressman Gerry Connolly (who is suffering from esophageal cancer) to serve as ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, over 35 year old Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. Connolly has since been seen doing TV interviews with a hoarse and raspy voice as he fields one of the most public facing, high-profile committee assigments in Congress.
Senator Mitch McConnell also suffered a fall the same week as Pelosi, as I wrote about at the time.
i dont have a problem with her being old, i have a problem with her being in congress for almost as long as i have been alive (i’m 40). tag in someone else after a few terms…
I’m not even necessarily against them being in office that long if they are of sound mind and are working for their constituents and the good of the country. So I can’t care less about the walker, but I think she’s no longer serving her purpose. (Feel free to explain how pretty much none of that has relevance in politics just about everywhere. I’ll pretend this is a revelation.)
the only upside of this gerontocracy is that we have a non-zero chance of seeing these ghouls die on live TV
