It has absolutely nothing to do with Facebook. We haven’t removed any policies about attacking people or groups. We understand what sealioning is, and we’re not going to allow “just asking questions” as an excuse to attack vulnerable groups.
What we are going to do is to intervene when someone tries to recreate Lemmygrad as an LW community.
Thanks for expressly stating a huge part of what is wrong with LW.
Lemmy is ‘supposed’ to be for discussion. Getting moderated for “just asking questions”, even at the annoying levels of sealioning does nothing to further that goal. It simply creates echo chambers.
FTR I am not excusing attacking vulnerable groups. I’m saying sealioning is easily dealt with by the community directly and in a civil manner, instead of getting mods involved. “I have answered your question. Ignoring the answer is sealioning so I will not be continuing but if anyone else wants to they are welcome”. Reporting instead is being petty, and catering to those reports is being heavy-handed.
Are you mad that LW is too strict on moderation? In which case the new changes should be accepted and appreciated.
Are you mad that it’s too loose with moderation?? That’s what the first comment was arguing but what you’ve stated here makes no sense or any attempt to back that up.
You’ve managed to completely 180 the argument that started this whole thing while still being “on the same side”. I am genuinely baffled.
Well it’s .world and seeing as their new policy is copying Facebook, they should ban the mod for banning you instead of debating why you’re wrong.

This is the most confusing post I’ve ever read.

It might help if you don’t infer anger or argumentation.
