The Finnish winter war occurred prior to operation Barbarossa, and was frequently referenced in justification for the Soviet Union being unable to repel an invasion.
Also: the USSR only initially got beaten by the Finns. They then threw a much larger chunk of their military into the fray, forcing Finland to capitulate and yield up even more territory than what the USSR had initially demanded, which demands started the war in the first place. Hitler famously took that war as evidence of Russia’s weakness, when he should have taken it as evidence that Russia would keep throwing in its vast reserves of manpower despite horrific initial losses.
Same thing thats happening in ukraine… russia trying to resist commiting a genocide against its own and other countries people for 2 seconds challange. I still think a somewhat reasonable solution would have been to split of russia(still kinda is if theres a ww3). You would ban the independant republics from unifying and would provide defense(which they need) to them nato style. After a while the different ethnic, religious, language and cultural groups would develop enough patriatism that they wouldnt want to unite again. Idk if this would actually work but its good as a headcannon. Also i really want to visit siberia and stuff so russia please just fuck off. Also i want world peace but we know that not happening soon.
