The characters were drawn in a more stylized way in order to add some levity to the punchline panels. You’ll find a similar technique in anime when the characters become chibi during comedic scenes. This emphasizes the idea that a scene shouldn’t be taken seriously.

The artist probably could’ve gone further with the stylization here to drive the point in harder. Right now it looks more “unfinished” than an obvious style change for comedic effect.

That type of behaviour is a huge fucking red flag and not a rookie mistake…

Edit: the reaction is the red flag, not calling some actor/actress pretty

Does HER reaction imply confidence in any way?

Her being prettier than the actress doesn’t mean the actress isn’t pretty. Her escalation and need for validation is INSANELY insecure.

        • It absolutely implies confidence. And his horrified look on his face, well, fuck him. What an absolute shit reaction to your friend saying they’re better in some way than some artificial, professionally made-up fake persona.

No, your waifu isn’t prettier than your IRL friend, and if that were your reaction to your friend’s statement, kicking you to the curb is the least I’d expect from them.

Hard disagree. He didn’t say the actress was prettier. He said the actress was pretty.

If someone being called pretty makes you do defensive that you immediately need validation that you’re prettier… that’s textbook insecurity.

A confident person would simply agree or disagree without needing to compare the character to themselves.

Gun aside (which I can’t tell if it’s a joke or a 'Murican thing), the tone matters a lot. I could totally see my SO doing that in a joking, cutesy manner.

Meanwhile, my parents: Started gushing to each other about how cute Milla Jovovich is when we watched The Fifth Element on family movie night, to the point of making me and my sisters a little uncomfortable.

Content that is potentially polarising, allows for virtue signalling, allows judgement of a romantic relationship, meant to be lighthearted…this has a lot of elements to be very successful as internet posted content.

Only ways I can think of is adding in something about sex, weed and /or a dog.

Much better than reddit I’ll give you that, you will be told that your relationship is toxic and you should end it
