I hope Dan is able to make rapid improvements. It’s awesome for the app to be getting so much attention, but it’s definitely not in a particular polished state, at least on android
Anyone on ios who can speak to the state of things?
It’s not amazing on iOS either, but the server load is probably the biggest part of the issue. It did make me feel like old internet used to though, so that’s nice.
My partner attempted to make an account and couldn’t do basic things like change their name, bio or photo on the iOS app.
They had to log into pixelfed.social on their computer, on chrome specifically, to change anything.
I keep getting an error with pixelfed.social as well, likely due to the influx lately. I’m hoping for dark mode soon as well. It’ll improve with time, but it’s been a bit of a rough go with the attention it’s getting.
It wasn’t an error - the phone refused to focus the field. Clicking on “bio” didn’t even open the keyboard.
Average react native experience…
Seems like there’s multiple different problems people are having, which is unfortunate. Mine was an actual popup error stating that the server was unavailable or a different version which was strange. Sometimes it lets me in now and sometimes it doesn’t.
Had the same issue. You can update it on the website just fine though…
It won’t even load gram.social…
Yeah it seems entirely bricked whenever I try to use it
Impressive
Really needs a dark mode,
I agree. In my opinion, no app should even consider launching without a dark mode already in place in today’s world.
My coworker’s wallpaper is white.
This isn’t a counter to your point. In fact, I completely agree with you. you just seem like someone who can understand the rage and bewilderment I felt when I saw it
Lmfao. We got a guy at work that knows to pre apologize to me before he screen shares with me.
I hate getting flashbanged by someone suddenly screen sharing Excel
Oh dear Lord, that would be irritating as hell to look at for any length of time.
I had another coworker, this time a fellow engineer, who put his laptop between his monitors. 27" screen, 17" laptop, 27" screen. Big screens for documents, Outlook, and Teams…laptop screen for CAD.
That seems extremely unintuitive.
That means people do care about privacy. That’s awesome!
I want a snapchat version.
Just wanted to let you guys know,
The entire fediverse is proud of ya, god speed!
Good job, canada! Fediverse that shit up.
