    Just because lots of fools are fooled by an illegitimate moral authority doesn’t give the authority any moral legitimacy.

    For proof of this, I remind you that half of America trust Trump, and you wouldn’t call Trump trustworthy would you?

      Legitimate or not, that’s 1.3+ billion people that now need to agree with us that Trump is evil. I’d rather have that than the opposite, wouldn’t you?

        Yes. That’s why if you re-read my comment, I wrote “I wish a higher moral authority than the boss of the Catholic church criticized Trump, but at least it’s something”.

          Yes, we agree. I was just pointing out that it’s quite a lot of that something, which is a good thing!

          But you’re right it would be good to see some consensus from other non-religious moral authorities.
