Hello!

No Man’s Sky is a game that we all genuinely truly love. Last year we released Worlds Part I and I remember thinking at the time that this is just the beginning. We can’t wait to show people what we’ve been working on! There’s new solar systems, new planets with more variety, new terrain types, even new Gas Giants, and of course new adventures. Our next update is called Worlds Part II. Full patch notes are available here.

Worlds Part II allows us to push the boundaries of our engine with new technology.

Across the universe we’re adding billions of new solar systems and trillions of new planets, and introducing new biomes and terrains without changing what people already love about the game. It’s now so far beyond what we ever thought was possible when we started out.

Scroll down to the patch notes. It takes half an hour to read these! 😯

I don’t even know where to begin with. Some of my personal highlights:

    • the two cold storages
    • ocean depth shown in the HUD; that willfeesd my fear of depths
    • auto-sort by various criteria! Yeah!
    • reduces repeating patterns in the terrain
    • new hostile fauna
    • new atmosphere entry effect …and much more!

Oh, and I love that this bug existed:

Fixed an issue that could cause the player to drop to the bottom of the ocean if a popup appeared while they were swimming.

I’ve had that bug happen once, felt like my character was being dragged down to the bottom by a kraken

Man, I haven’t played No Man’s Sky since the last world/biome update turned my home base from a paradise planet into a murky miserable swamp.

I just got discouraged. Didn’t want to have to go out scouting for a new home & rebuild again.

I have been playing since launch and still do not have a home planet. I will find ones I like and set up a base for mining. But nothing I ever feel like is a home.

My freighter is my home, any other base was set up with a single purpose. Usually runaway mold if we’re bring honest.

I guess I would consider my freighter more my home too.

My brother like to build giant sprawling bases, so sometimes he finds a planet and we do that. But he picks spots the look cool, while I go for a place with at least 2 deposits in range.

yeah I just have 30+ homes now. cave homes, mountain homes, etc.

i guess the one that feels the homiest to me is my freighter.

“so far beyond what we ever thought was possible when we started out” yet the original trailer still looks better than the game hmmmm

      Care to elaborate?

      Original trailer: https://youtu.be/nLtmEjqzg7M

      Today’s trailer: https://youtu.be/75bfyy-XkQg

The current trailer shows a much wider variety of flora, fauna, and landscape in the planetary scenes, and much higher graphical fidelity throughout. The only way I could see someone describe the first as “better,” is if they prefer the cartoony aesthetic that the game has slowly been leaning away from.

The problem was always that they clearly handcrafted a planet and animation sequence for a game that was supposed to be procedurally generated. Even with more variety, nothing the game can produce looks nearly as organic and natural as that trailer shot. The flight demo also makes the flight model look deliberate but realistic, instead of the bathtub autopilot that we got.

Wow, yet another hot take that reeks of compost from one of the big brains from .ml

I suppose we should all be surprised it’s about video games instead of politics for a change?

I realize that I’m coming into the game’s community and talking shit, but the fact that you have no substantive reply and can only bash my instance is telling.
