In a sentence never before uttered by humans, I am delighted to share that an alligator stole my conservation instructor’s hat by jauntily walking into the water while wearing it 🐊

One of my favorite pieces of folklore (the version I remember didn’t have the voyeurism, it was a love story where the guy would turn into an alligator to cross the river and meet his lover). There’s even an illustration of the alligator wearing a traditional Colombian hat, looking fly as fuck: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51GLWe366mL._AC_UF1000,1000_QL80_.jpg
Definitely.
The Bluesky OP didn’t explicitly say the photo is real. Now I wonder if that story was an inspiration for a fake photo that was staged or AI or whatever. The account is small and doesn’t do like-grabs. But there can always be a first time.
Someone else in the thread mentioned that around NOLA a lot of people lose hats because they put them on gators thinking they look funny, and the gator just takes off with the hat on.
Maybe this is what conspiracy theorists meant when they were talking about reptilians.
