Just curious for your thoughts, nothing bad intended. How would you feel about console graphic settings? Not as granular as PC but like, “30FPS and beautiful” or “60FPS and toned down graphics”.

Given the choice, what would you pick?

100% 60 fps and toned down

older games are often still played a lot nowadays, and art direction is way more important than resolution and the like

honestly the immense focus in polygon and pixel counts in games lately has annoyed me immensely, especially because they rarely actually make for a stand-out look

I’m in favor of some simple options, at least. It’s not unprecedented; I distinctly remember Perfect Dark on N64 offering a “hi-res mode” that boosted the resolution at the cost of performance. Personally, I’d go with the option that guarantees me the highest consistent frame rate, but I’d also have to consider the relative difference in graphics between the options. High settings on PC usually do look nice, but I’ve noticed a continued trend of seeing lower quality settings that still look pretty close.

By the time the next generation of consoles comes around, I think there will be enough AI-powered enhancements available to easily boost frame rates to 120fps with very high quality graphics on consoles. If that stuff pans out, it’d be up there with the biggest leaps in console performance between generations that we’ve ever seen.
