I’m currently tinkering around with the ‘Anycubic Photon S’ to get a first impression. I’m already hooked up and like to buy an SLA-printer for the job. I’m in strong favour for an (Prusa) SL1S because of its speed, the prusaslicer and support. So, although money is fortunetely not a problem, I can spent it only once.
So I’d like to ask about your experience. Anyone using an SL1S and wants to share his/ hers experience?
Only downside I can see at the moment is the (relatively) small bed. A bigger one might come in handy, but it also makes the whole process even more messy (bigger washing provisions, waste, etc.).
So - any users of a big (build) volume SLA printer, like the ‘Anycubic Photon Mono M3 Max’ around who also might want to drop a line?
Thanks a lot for your support, have fun printing!
We just bought an Anycubic Photon D2. We don’t need a huge build plate (though the D2 is pretty big) and wanted a workhorse. The long life and lower power use were big selling points.
Edit: I also wanted to add that after useing Prusaslicer for my mk3s for years I still ended up going with Lychee slicer for SLA. I find adding supports easier even though I miss Prusaslicer’s UI and polish every time I use Lychee.
I have the predecessor to that, the Photon Ultra. I’d be very interested in seeing how the anti-aliasing performs on the D2 - I’ve been fighting voxels on the Ultra since Day One, and haven’t been happy with the results.
So far we’ve been printing dice on it, but once I get into printing minis I’ll let you know.
I’ve got a photon mono 4k and I dig it
The bed size can be a bit restrictive but the machine is a trooper
No personal experience with SLA printing, but this list of 3d printers might be useful for comparing options. Maintained by people on the 3D Printing discord.
I have a photon mono 4k that has been quite nice. I could use a bigger build plate but I like what I have.
I ended up getting a saturn 2, 10inch is a good compromise of printing size and price
On the contrary to a couple of other posts here, I had a Photon Mono 4k that gave me nothing but trouble for weeks until I boxed it up and put it in storage. I must have tried 30 different prints and had success with only two.
I’m generally very tech savvy, trial and error oriented, and have had a lot of success with FDM printing so I don’t think it’s me. It’s possible I had a bad model but in the time between buying it and first using it, the return policy had expired.
So of course it’s anecdotal but I’d recommend something other than the Mono 4k.
