      I’m a little confused. How can Apple force you only to use their parts? For instance, what’s stopping me from getting a replacement screen from a third-party?

        Firmware and Hardware ID shenanigans. Also, look up what John Deere is doing, that’ll give you a good idea of what’s possible there.

          Is apple doing what John Deere does? I haven’t tried any particularly advanced stuff. Some stuff like the processor I don’t really see how you’d be able to have an iphone without using apple’s lineup but maybe I’m just ignorant of what’s possible here. Like you can’t just stick an Intel/AMD into a modern Mac and you can’t stick a silicon chip into your Lenovo and expect the computers to run right, right?
