There was a post earlier about the UAP senate hearings that happened today.

Now the post is gone. Why?

You can check the modlog to see the reason a post is removed (no search bar yet so you’ll have to scroll through it). If it’s not on there, then either the user deleted it, or as Osayidan said your instance may have accidentally dropped it.

      Thank you for that link.

Yes the post is on the mod log. The deletion note says something about no link to the news source. But it clearly had a link.

      Who knows.

Annoying since the post was gaining traction and votes. Posts about the hearings tend to be deleted due to the stigma of the topic.

Im suspect of the deletion here for the same reason.

Are you sure they’re being deleted? Federation is a bit weird in that the instance you’re browsing from might not have a piece of content for whatever reason (database rollback/restore or other issues) but if it was posted then it’s out there somewhere on an instance that grabbed it while it was still up.

      I’m pretty sure.

All the apps also error out when I try to view replies to my comment that was on said post.

The error is that the post cannot be found.

I’m pretty sure it’s been deleted. I’ll try to confirm that via federation logs though.

Most likely the poster deleted the comment. The replies still exist in the lemmyverse but you need a direct link. If a mod deletes a post or comment, you’ll see it in the modlog.

I also see your account is on “infosec.pub” in the same way mine is on “social.vmdk.ca” so you can try searching on lemmy.world or some other instance for the post in question using keywords. For example I found this on lemmy.world directly while searching for UAP, no idea if it’s what you’re talking about. https://lemmy.world/post/1812373

          Thanks.

According to the modlog here it was deleted by mods

There was a linked article but the reason says it was not a direct link to the source?

Annoying since it was gaining traction and posts on the topic tend to be deleted due to stigma. Was common on Reddit.

Actually the mod log shows alot of posts deleted for seemingly arbitrary reasons like:

“Activism” , “misleading”, “misinformation”, and “health” (?)

Hate seeing news articles being so strictly filtered.

Well, we’re on lemmy. Don’t like the mods actions? Make your own community, hell, your own instance.

I don’t know about that post specifically but Lemmy keeps a modlog for mod/admin actions if you want to look. If it was removed it should be there with the reason. It’s linked in the community sidebar. Or here for this community: https://lemmy.world/modlog/2840

    Check the modlog.

The only recent removed post from this community related to the UAP hearings was an hour ago and the modlog shows exactly what it was removed: because it failed to provide a link to the direct news article
