Deadly Cover-Up - 3BB

Sorcery

As an additional cost to cast this spell, you may collect evidence 6.

Destroy all creatures. If evidence was collected, exile a card from an opponent’s graveyard. Then, search its owner’s graveyard, hand, and library for any number of cards with the same name as that card and exile them. That player shuffles, then draws a card for each card exiled from their hand this way.

Couldn’t this be used to remove lands? Oops, no more islands in your deck?

Oddly enough, no! I thought this too a little while ago given the style similarities and same name but she’s not related according to an interview:

If there was a specific moment I would attribute to being where I am today, it would be the moment I decided to take a mentorship with Rebecca Guay (no relation). At the time I was feeling very directionless. I knew I wanted to continue with my art, but I hadn’t found the place where my art belonged, I hadn’t developed my skills, and I knew next to nothing about the business side of illustration. The experience helped me find my voice, and it introduced me to the F/SF illustration community, which has been a huge source of support for me.

Actually pretty wild. This is only the second unconditional black wrath printed for 5 mana or less. And it even has upside. There is arguably better black mass removal but this is simple and should have a lot of demand in Commander at least.

This is a lot less conditional than any of the other wrath effects available to mono-black in the present Standard.
