I’ve seen discussion about China and all things Chinese on Reddit, and have noticed it can often end up being based more in emotion or tribalism than objective facts and analysis. Since we’re no longer on Reddit, let’s use the transition as an opportunity for turning over a new leaf.

I really have trouble comprehending your comment. Do you mean that any criticism is unjustified?

So your answer is that all of the criticisms against the Chinese government are justified? It seems like that last comment says that anything that tries to justify the Chinese government’s actions is… Unjustified

    Fuck the Chinese government.

❤️ to the people who suffer and/or have zero clue as to their insane level of control and denial of freedom.

I’m aware that freedom doesn’t fit a true square peg fits square hole.

But, most people in many “free” and educated countries understand that the citizens of China are not “free”.

I have Chinese immigrants in my hometown (U.S.), and they’re desperate to bring other family members away from China.

No matter how fucked up things are in the U.S…many people need to realize that countless others lives aren’t remotely as “free” as our illusion.

The central Chinese government has over 90% support, with majority satisfaction in all areas. I’m sure you don’t need an explanation as to why a small group of people who left the country are not an adequate litmus test for the level of satisfaction of the whole country (both in terms of sample size and response bias, the two of which complement each other). You know absolutely nothing about the CPC (of which the general direction of the country is determined, with a composition of 10% of the overall population, and a policy of mass-line decision making, from the bottom to the top in regards to the decision of promotion through each strata and top to bottom in relation to decisions carried out through unified agreements and criticism), nor the government, of which in either case all positions are voted in by the populace without capitalist infiltration of interests that plagues bourgeois national and local elections.

But, most people in many “free” and educated countries understand that the citizens of China are not “free”.

Ah, like the United States, with both a higher per-capita incarceration rate and total number of prisoners compared to China (per-capita statistics are generally used when comparing the U.S. and PRC since the former has a fourth of the population of the latter, making the U.S.’s higher total number of prisoners even more obscene)and a higher per-capita concentration of police officers by a wide margin.

No matter how fucked up things are in the U.S…many people need to realize that countless others lives aren’t remotely as “free” as our illusion.

Sure, let’s talk about Afghanistan, North Korea, Chile, Guatemala, Iran, and so on. Ah but their lack of freedom and prosperity was set in place by the U.S.

One thing I find highly hypocrite is the complain about their Internet censoring.

Yeah sure they take it to the extrem but it’s not like our Western goverments are that much better in recent years. The goverment just should come clean and say they want the same amount of Power over the World wide Web.

The Chinese firewall is not even in the same ballpark as Western internet “censorship” lol

Yeah, western countries trying (and largely having limited success or outright failing because citizens are treated as people and can push back) to limit speech is very different than a government blocking out the whole rest of the world and massively censoring their whole internal internet.

Kind of crazy someone can say that and then be able to visit the Pirate Bay immediately afterwards and not realize the disconnect
