      Assume a basal antisemitism level of 1.0. For Haley’s statement to hold, we further assume that antisemitism must be continuously compounded such that the TikToker’s antisemitism level is always 1.17 times its level from 1/2 hr of TikTok time ago. It follows, then, that the viewer’s antisemitism level y after x hours of watching TikTok will be given by

      y = yi e2xln(1.17)

      where yi is the initial antisemitism level. So, assuming 1.0 as our baseline, antisemitism grows over time according to the following graph:

      Note the table at left which gives the resulting antisemitism level vs. baseline for 1 hr, 1 day, 1 wk, 1 mo, and 1 yr of TikTok viewing time respectively. Whence we can see that after just 1 month of viewtime the TikToker’s degree of antisemitism will have multiplied by about a third of a googol, and by 1 yr will be practically infinite.

    Hate for the Israeli Government is not antisemitic, just like hate for Nikki Haley is not sexist.

    “We really do need to ban TikTok once and for all and let me tell you why. For every 30 minutes that someone watches TikTok, every day, they become 17% more antisemitic, more pro-Hamas based on doing that.”

    The Haley campaign told CNN she was referring to a story from the New York Sun, which cites the analysis of a survey posted on X. The survey showed “spending at least 30 minutes a day on TikTok increases the chances a respondent holds antisemitic or anti-Israel views by 17%.”

    The survey asked respondents a series of questions about[…] whether they agreed or disagreed with statements such as “Israel has a right to defend itself” and “Hamas is committing genocide.” He cited one statement in the survey – “Israel and its supporters are a bad influence on our democracy”– as an example

    In a previous debate, she clashed with her rival Vivek Ramaswamy, after he pointed out that Haley’s daughter used TikTok. “Leave my daughter out of your voice,” she said. “You’re just scum.”

      putting aside bogus zionist definitions of antisemitism, what a nothing fucking study. young people are on tiktok more, and young people of all religions and social media habits are less likely to be zionists. really not a mystery there, it’s just the most obvious boomer-bait imaginable, just like those “50% of american youth are holocaust deniers” headlines when it’s closer to 50% don’t know what dachau was (because we’ve given up on teaching pretty much all history not having to do with the revolutionary period).

        They actually only polled 18-29 year olds on this, like their idea was to compare young people who mainly use tiktok to young people who use insta or x or whatever. But even within an age group like that, you can easily imagine a 17% difference between, say, 18-23 yos and 24-29 yos. I imagine if they surveyed all ages you’d get a crazy ass number like 57% or some shit

      I’m pretty sure that by this metric you could justify banning basically every right-wing media outlet in the country.
