Yeah it sounds like Acosta left Cuba for Chile because Lopez was in his weight class. He’s been competing for Chile since 2017 but looks like this is his first Olympics. Glad he got beat.
IDK stuff

Loved watching him win. The announcers mentioned his opponent for the finals, Yasmani Acosta Fernandez was apparently his Cuban teammate and then defected to Chile.
Even my dad who’s a big wrestling fan, but a chud had to begrudgingly admit Lopez is the GOAT.
Watched it earlier today, and loved every second of it. Especially after learning he beat his former teammate, who was a defector.
That’s pretty wild, definitely a very random combination.
Reminds me of how apparently Flavor Flav sponsored the US Women’s Water Polo team because he heard they we had minimal funding and were working multiple jobs plus trying to keep up with their training or something like that.
Its kinda sad to think about, but also I guess very American. Hoping some benevolent rich person blesses you and your sport with money so you can hopefully keep doing that sport to win a medal.
Edit: Yeah it was the water polo team, also realized I’m being serious on a meme post… ABC News Link
Thanks for digging that up, that’s worse than I could have ever imagined it being judged… I don’t blame you I don’t want to look more into that either.
The announcers washed his balls the entire match, aside from a little mention of the dude getting suspended for ghosting three consecutive drug tests.
Yeah that’s not fishy at all.
Edit: if you want huck your phone through a windows, Google “team usa Olympians failed drug test” Results are about Chinese swimmers
Why I’m glad I’m not watching the Olympics with my family past couple days. They won’t shut up about how clearly the only reason China is good at any sport has to be doping.
Meanwhile my dad thinks the worst any US athlete can be on is weed so we’re very clearly not doping.
Well that’s upsetting to hear. It’s completely abhorrent and I already can’t believe that guy is allowed to compete. I can’t comprehend how 4 years was it for his jail time. Deserves much worse than just the boo’s he got in the first match.
Was going to say I remembered Paraguay being better semi recently but honestly haven’t been tracking the different South American national teams very closely.
They might make it to the 2026 World Cup just because the CONMEBOL qualifiers now allow for like 7 teams to qualify, out of 10. But with teams like Ecuador and Venezuela on the rise, they have fewer chances.
Venezuela’s rise has been interesting to me, I know quite a few of their players have come through or still are in MLS. I’m guessing the sport has grown in popularity in Venezuela enough and the domestic league quality must be decent enough to give their players a shot in foreign leagues.
Does Paraguay have a solid roster? I know they had a hard time in Copa America. Either way, hope Japan keeps their foot on the gas and can keep the Israeli’s loosing.
Idk if it was live but just watched Cuba beat USA in Men’s Beach Volleyball. The Cuban’s were pumped and really trying to get the crowd into it all match despite the rain.
Looks like it happened in pool play: Olympics Site Match Results
I don’t think most Americans are going to even register it’s subs for Australia though. Maybe that’s also the point, get Americans excited about building an extra sub or two as a treat for Australia. (Well really to your point Australia still wouldn’t actually get new subs)
I don’t watch a lot of NASCAR but seeing AKUS is blowing money being the lead sponsor on a car is wild. I guess since Australia isn’t actually getting the submarines for a long time (or is it not at all?) they’re free to do this.

Buildsubmarines is some site talking up AKUS
True, all good points. Uruguay has looked pretty good in the game I watched. They don’t have the the same top end star power, but the addition of Bielsa might help them add up to more then the sum of their parts. They’re definitely more talented on paper than Bolivia. The one victory in neutral sites is pretty brutal. I guess the altitude is really what tends to give Bolivia a shot.
Yeah I’d imagine that’s a massive advantage for them and with this Copa America they’re completely missing that advantage now with it being in the US.
So I’ve been watching the Copa America as well as the Euros this year. The Bolivia coup attempt got me thinking, how do we think the Bolivian National team will react in their game today against Uruguay? I know they have quite a few domestic players.
Good to know I had a feeling this had to be the case. It’s always the first thing I notice, since it’s so obvious.
This isn’t concrete evidence but I feel like a lot of craft breweries made one or two good beers as a homebrewer and somehow knew people or had established money to start up a craft brewery. Since I do like checking out craft breweries and most have literally 1-2 good beers and the rest mid to poor (the bigger the draft list generally more likely all are poor). A lot of these breweries get bailed out by good locations or recently providing spaces to let the adults booze + “Watch the kids”.
I like to homebrew and so I’m aware of the process and have some idea of the costs since there was a moment I thought about it before I realized how much money I’d have to find (not happening) and how much I dreaded the business side of it. It’s much more fun to just give people beer and see them enjoy it.
I had no idea this existed and was just using ublock origin.
How cpu intensive is this? Just curious since I’ll definitely put it on my desktop but wondering if I should also put it on my phone Firefox browser.
Love this so much. I know the NHL teams all have unique goal sirens and stuff, this is way cooler
