Especially considering at least one of the mods has already admitted they don’t even like the thing they’re in charge of?

You’re not my superviser. This is just ableism, we’ve been through this.
This “health” argument has been gone thru a whole bunch, don’t relitigate it.

Had about an hour before I pack up all my things, and wanted to check in to see what’s going on.

edit: and please read some
“The ladder of citizien participation”
I’m not gonna write a lot about it, the text is short and written for the layperson. It’s a neat tool for valuating how well your community planning actually integrates the community. It’s pretty sad a group of alleged leftists screech at the suggestion we should do better than step: 1 “Manipulation”. Most public projects in the US does better than that. Are you telling me you think the US state is better at working with communities than you are? SAD.
I don’t know how long it will take to do these things, but I think it’s gonna be somewhere between three hours and five years. Realistically though it’s probably a few months. I can’t say any more than this, but know it’s all good. Since I wanted to go for a marathon anyway I figured I might as well leave on a high note.
This doesn’t have anything to do with the strugglesession, but the timing is kinda funny. Would have been nice if it had happened a week ago, but I just couldn’t do that to my haters
This doesn’t have anything to do with opsec or threats or anything else worrisome either - Not that it should have, but I just want to quell any rumors that might pop up.
I am banksy though
Tbh I wasn’t around for the very start of the VCJ thing, so I can’t speak to that. I’d come back from a break. I’ve edited it
I am very sorry to hear that comrade I wish I could help you in some way
I sadly had been away and then came back in the midst of the VCJ thing, so I don’t know what was going on in the time leading up to it. But yeah we do love revising history here, it’s another bad trait.
On the other hand it might have an inverse effect too. The trans mega is very active, which I imagine draws people in. Likewise with the news mega.
Some years ago I decided to revitalize a then (basically) dead neurodiverse comm by posting to it frequently. This lead to it seeing more users.
We are like moths to a light, drawn to the sweet lure of
I don’t know though, I’m just saying that’s possible too.
But the reason she is so fondly remembered is that in the big picture she was pretty much always right
I don’t really agree with this. The reason she is remembered fondly is because a lot of users who disliked her schtick left - and that wasn’t just transphobes. She made the site way less inclusive for ND people, she made it a hostile space where you were unsure about what was going on. This turned people off. When she made her first “I’m leaving” post there were plenty of people celebrating it - and getting banned for it.
This was the basic cycle of TC69 handling any issue the end result was that she banned people until they no longer complained. Thinking that if you hear no issue, there is no issue. This is certainly true, but it also means you lose a lot of people. The way the VCJ thing was handled was fucking abysmal.
I’m glad she made it a better place for trans people who she liked. I’m sad she was not interested in just making the site a better place.
edit: Others who remember the VCJ thing better have corrected me.
For a long while the “TC69 thought” joke made me angry. Took a year or so before I felt neutral about it and a bit more before I started being able to join in. I thought we all recknognised it was ironic.
Incredible that people still don’t get this.
Infuriating that they seem to not get it on purpose, since they constantly reduce the critique to “we think there’s a shadowy cabal of transphobic mods who want to ruin the site” and then present it like that’s what people are actually saying. I’ve talked enough about that
Instead I’d rather give you some theory you can use. “The ladder of citizien participation”

This needs to be the banner for the dunk comm
Have you considered wether you might be clinically depressed? What you’re describing could kinda sound like it. It’s not a big deal if you are. I got the diagnosis and some anti-depressants and it made my life so much better.
Oh I don’t worry about hornyposting. I brought it up because it’s a thing I feel brings weird vibes, makes communities have certain tendencies and makes it easier for people to say something they’ll regret/something that’ll turn others away and - as can be seen elsewhere - without good moderation it can bring shitty types. I’m fine with it because it seems to work pretty well all things considered and some users have a need for it and it’s not harming the people here. However if we wanted to interrogate why fewer people use the site, then that’s something I would point to personally, because it is personally one of the reasons I don’t recommend it to others.
I’m prepping to make a post to explain in more precise detail soon, but I’m genuinely nervous about how willing to engage most users are right now. Many people are justifiably upset, and I’m struggling with threading the needle between helping alleviate some of the tension and letting everyone have enough time to breathe before re-engaging to mend the rift and start fixing some of the site issues that made this the powder keg it turned out to be.
You’ve done an absolutely fantastic job so far. I wouldn’t worry if I were you, but I understand why you do. Personally I feel like I’m in a pretty good spot to engage with things, but I’ll sadly be going away for a little while, so I probably won’t see it. Through most of this, users have really just been asking for good communication (communication is a two-way street, so it’s not just saying things in a good way, but hearing what the response is), and you’re doing great so far. I get it if you wait a while though, it’s been pretty stressful.
Are you often tired? Do you struggle to get out of bed in the morning?
Definitely! The second point is a balancing act between paranoia and rational detachment.
I just think it’s important to keep in mind about ones’ own behaviour, and to keep in mind if you start to feel bad about kicking someone to the curb due to their behaviour being suspect.
THEY DIDN’T! THEY JUST DIDN’T VOTE! HOW IS THIS SO HARD TO GET? HARRIS LOST 11 MILLION VOTES! GET THIS THRU YOUR DENSE SKULL THEY JUST DIDN’T VOTE
:nerd: it would be better under Harris because even though the west bank would be de facto annexed, it would still de jure not be
If only Harris could have done something to win their vote. Too bad she had to campaign on doing genocide more than Joe does it.
The price makes perfect sense though, once you account for consulting fees.
Can it be infowars sometimes?
