Authorities say a police officer in northern Alabama allegedly shot and killed a 68-year-old man. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is launching an investigation into the shooting that happened Sunday evening in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

An Alabama police officer is being investigated for allegedly shooting and killing a 68-year-old man, authorities said.

A Muscle Shoals police officer fatally shot Ronald Parrish at around 5 p.m. Sunday while responding to an unspecified call in a residential area, according to a statement from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. The agency said that police encountered Parrish, who allegedly had a knife, and shot him when he refused to put it down.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners.
